# The GT Global Championship

> A planned worldwide racing series for GT3 and GT4 cars — the fastest production-based race cars on earth. It is the long-term project of The Paddock Society, built to close a specific gap in motorsport: there is one truly global championship in car racing and it runs Formula 1 cars; the GT3 and GT4 world has none that is global, includes the United States, and is open to owner-drivers.

## Canonical naming

- The series name is **The GT Global Championship**, always written in full. There is **no acronym**.
- The champion is the **GT Global Champion**. In running text the series is referred to as **"the Championship."**
- "GT" covers both **GT3 and GT4** (a multi-class field).

## Key facts

- **Classes — two grids, two identities:** **GT3 is the Open Grid** (the apex — established teams and owner-drivers, racing for the biggest purse in GT racing) and **GT4 is the Nations Grid** (country-flagged national entries — one entry is one nation, crewed by two or three drivers sharing the flag, scored on the **Nations Trophy**). Both race together as a single multi-class grid.

## The bet, stated plainly

Formula 1 runs the only truly global car-racing championship — roughly twenty-four rounds across five continents, three of them in the United States. GT3 and GT4, the fastest production-based classes, have no equivalent: Intercontinental GT Challenge dropped its US round, the World Endurance Championship's LMGT3 class does not race in the United States, and GT World Challenge fragments into regional series that never share a grid. The defensible gap is specific — **global, includes America, and open to owner-drivers.** The GT Global Championship is the long bet that this gap closes.
